Our curriculum is shaped by what we believe are fundamental concepts that young people should understand. The content covered in our workshops take into account several touchpoints and build on existing ideas that students may have about the political and legal system in New Zealand.
Our Programme
Our Workshops
CivX workshops are and developed for different year levels so that topics and issues are introduced appropriately and relevantly. Our trained facilitators work to cover the basics and encourage discussion among students in a fun and engaging way.
This foundation workshop is designed for years 9-10 but is also relevant for any year level with minimal background in civics. Ideas and topics are conveyed in engaging, interactive activities alongside theory to give students a 'real world' application. Trained facilitators deliver each workshop.
Topics covered: starter concepts, types of regimes, participating in a democracy (voting, elections and electoral systems/MMP).
Duration: approx 45mins for a standard session, timing may vary at your request or to fit school timetable.
